After several years pursuing her options at St Martins, Luella Bartley finally settled on the path of journalism. Leaving college for a job in the fashion dept at The Evening Standard, she steadily worked her way up through the ranks until a job at British Vogue called. There she happily stayed for a year and a half before her true calling took hold and she left to set up her own label. Close friend, Katie Grand reminisces, "I sort of remember being out one night getting a bit drunk and Luella suddenly deciding she was going to start a fashion label." That was in year 2000.
2006 so far has been a phenomenal success for Luella with two awards in the bag, Designer of the year from both Elle and Glamour Magazine, and a recent nomination for Designer of The Year at the British fashion awards, Luella is flying the British flag high and enjoying it.
